These words were
spoken by one of our great leaders. He understood that the government is
by the people and for the people, not the politicians. Too often we have
turned over our government to the politicians, this is a recipe for disaster.
As President Lincoln told us that a government by the people will not perish,
but a government that is void of the people's input will suffer.
We the people are the employers. The elected officials work for us, we are their
bosses. We can hire them and we can fire them but the responsibility for
running our state rests with the people
You
have put in office. You
must take an active role in your government.
You
must care and be involved.
After I am elected
one of my first acts will be to establish citizen groups.
These groups will be composed of 8-10 people just like you and me. They
will serve as volunteers for a period of 60 days. They will set
their own schedules and decide where they will work out of and how often they
meet will be decided by them. They will look at various parts of our state
government and make recommendations directly to me as to how we can change the
government to better support the people.
You
will be involved. These groups will have the freedom to look at any part
or office of state government. They will have access to all of state
government and will answer only to me. At the end of the 60 days they will
report their findings to me and we will act on their good recommendations.
After 60 days more groups will be appointed and the process will continue.
