The Environment

I will keep this short.

We must continue to seek better ways of producing energy, it we can send a man to the moon we can find ways to produce cheap energy consistent with sound environmental practices.

I believe we  are put in positions of responsibly to serve and protect.  We are the stewards of our environment and  have no greater responsibility than to  protect  it for those generations who came after us.

I am strongly opposed to toll roads as they slow traffic and create and environmental  hazard.  A vehicle traveling for 30 minutes at highway speed puts four times less pollutants into the atmosphere than one required to stop at a toll booth and accelerate back  to highway speeds.  Toll roads also present an unacceptable safety hazard to the  public, are expensive to build and maintain and never go away once put in place.

I would also like you to think about all the campaign literature sent in the mail  by my opponents.  Most, probably all, will end up clogging the landfills of our state.  Politicians who send thousands of mailings out have little concern for the environment and you should let them know how you feel about this antiquated practice.

What about the proliferation of political signs placed, illegally I might add, on the shoulders and  of right-of-ways of our  highways?   An eyesore, and with the plastics they use for these signs they may not deteriorate for hundreds of years.  I look at these signs, write down the names of the candidates who have no respect for the environment, and when I go into the voting booth I vote for the other candidate.  WE, have the power to stop this practice but we must act.
